He is Sufficient

Several weeks ago, I was reflecting on a recent adversity. I thanked God for reminding me that He is near, for reminding me that He is for me and not against me, that He is on my side, and He is in my corner. I thanked God for His power. I was then reminded that His power is sufficient. His Word is sufficient. His touch is sufficient. Everything we need is in Him. He is the answer to any problem we encounter. Merriam-Webster defines the word sufficient as "enough to meet the needs of a situation or a proposed end". When faced with adversity we should seek Him first. Scripture reminds us that if we acknowledge Him in all of our ways, then He will direct our paths (Proverbs 3:6). When a problem arises, let's acknowledge our Father immediately. I believe He will then direct our path on how to overcome or fix that problem. This doesn't mean you have to pray a long and drawn out prayer. This can be short and to the point. I've recently started implementing this in my life, not just for me but for my friends also. It doesn't matter who is having the problem, God can fix them all. When situations have arisen, I told the Lord that there was a problem and explained what the problem was. Then I asked Him to help solve the problem and sealed it with words of confidence knowing that whatever He provided was sufficient. Additionally, sometimes we want to call our friends or a family member when something happens. Let's take time to talk to God first. By the time you finish speaking with Him, you'll likely be a lot calmer and can see and think clearly about what you need to do next. There is nothing wrong with calling our friends and loved ones because sometimes we need advice or we just need someone to listen. The key is to go to God first.

I hope this has been an inspirational seed for your soul. 🌼

Speak the Word

One day I was sitting in my prayer room talking with God about how I felt about something. I can't even remember what I was probably rambling about at this point but I have the message that followed still written on my dry erase board. It says, "Instead of speaking how you feel, speak what God actually said, speak His Word. If you don't have a Word, then call on His name. There is power in the name of Jesus....to break every chain!" This hit me like a ton of bricks and my perspective and mood immediately shifted as if I was just realizing this for the first time. Understanding this freed me from the captivity of my thoughts and feelings within that moment about that specific issue. I literally snapped out of it. God doesn't mind when we vent but if we're being honest, we know sometimes we've talked to God about that same thing a million times and each time our feelings haven't changed. Let's grow from that and start to declare the Word of God over ...
